Remember when we were younger…? Kano, Craig David, D-Dark, Sizzla, Sweet Female Attitude, Purple Haze and Shola Ama…remember the fights on the back of the bus; house parties because we had no idea how to get fake ID’s for raves; Chinese print leggings and hoodie to match; the first wave of New Era Caps, Air Rifts and Pink Timberland’s; wearing dummies for fashion, gelling baby hair on our foreheads, jamming outside Dalston Shopping Centre or Hackney Town Hall waiting…for anything. Remember the babies born by girls just in time for GCSE’s; remember the babies lost to kitchen knives dripping with revenge and the need for acceptance…

If you remember, if you’ve forgotten, if you never knew, keep reading…

Following the great response from a 20 minute version of this monologue at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Chewing Gum Dreams will now be on at The Yard Theatre in July 2012! ‘The Yard’ is a great Arts Council sponsored theatre in a beautiful part of HACKNEY WICK, seeing as the play is set in Hackney  I was very eager to have it produced there.

The space is as raw and bare as the writing, and I don’t want you to miss it!! This version will be 50 minutes long (apparently anyway, ain’t even finished it yet, but I promise there will still be trains running when you leave!)

If you never managed to see any of the previous performances I can tell you that it’s funny, it’s far from funny, it’s beautifully ignorant, it’s horrible and hopeful, and you HAVE to catch it.

Only 5 performances so PLEASE support by telling friends, enemies and strangers to come.
